Williams' Walkoff Seals The Deal In Spartans’ Varsity Victory Over Pebblebrook & Spartan Baseball Honors West Metro Atlanta Men’s Baseball League

The Spartan Baseball Program was proud and honored to welcome members of the West Metro Atlanta Men’s Baseball League to throw out the first pitch on Tuesday before the game with region 7A2 rival Pebblebrook. We are so grateful for their 14 year partnership with and support of Spartan Baseball. Representing West Metro Atlanta Men’s Baseball League was league founder Don Ethridge and league leaders Ron Huck and Rick Crain. On to the night’s action, Spartans Varsity took Tuesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with a 2-1 walk-off victory. The game was tied 1-1 batting in the bottom of the 10th when Xavier Williams singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring Owen Wright.

Spartans pitching was strong striking out 11.
Scoring was opened in the third inning. Dominic Rutigliano’s sac fly scored Michael Braswell who walked earlier in the inning and advanced to 3rd on a hit to right field by Ethan Mack.
In the top of the sixth inning, Pebblebrook tied things up at one. Jared Atchison drove in one when he doubled.

Brian Deluyrea got the start for the Spartans going 5 strong allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out three and walking one. Casey Bowman come in as relief and went 4 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits striking out 7 and walking 3. Xavier Williams pitched the 10th giving up 1 hit and striking out 1.

Hassan Goggins, Michael Herrmann, Ethan Mack, and Williams each had one hit.

The Spartans will take on Pebblebrook at Pebblebrook Friday March 16, game time is 5:55.
