A capacity crowd of fans and alumni at the Spartan Baseball Complex watched the Spartan Varsity defeat Pebblebrook 2-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Michael Braswell induced a groundout from Jared Atchison to finish off the game.

Spartans pitching gave up only 3 hits over seven innings with zero walks, striking out ten .

The Spartans got things moving in the second inning when Brian Deluyrea scored from 3rd on a passed ball.

Deluyrea went five innings, allowing only two hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking none.

Deluyrea led Campbell at the plate with two hits in three at bats. Spartans ran wild stealing eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Casey Bowman led the way with three.

The Spartans head to Westlake on Tuesday to take on the Lions in a pivotal region match up with the winner headed to the state playoffs. Game time from Westlake is 5:30pm.
