Spartan JV Overcomes South Cobb In Face Of Early 4-Run Inning

South Cobb scored four runs in the first inning, but the Spartans still won 17-6 on Wednesday.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. The Spartans collected 12 hits and South Cobb had five.

South Cobb got on the board in the first inning, scoring one run.The Spartans took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Rambo Fultz singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run and John Anagnostis singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Silver & Royal put up seven runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to walks by Gillen Joachim and Jacob Grantham, singles by Brendon Kraus and Tristen Jensen, a groundout by BJ Banks, an error on a ball put in play by George Jackson, and a double by Joachim.

Ethan Fuller was the winning pitcher for Campbell. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out three and walking zero. Duncan Santos threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Chase Lavalley started the game for the Spartans. He allowed three hits and six runs over three innings, striking out two.

The Good Guys totaled 12 hits in the game. Anagnostis, Jensen, and Fultz all collected multiple hits. Anagnostis went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Spartan offense. Once again, the Spartans tore up the base paths, as six players stole at least two bases. Anagnostis led the way with five.

The Spartans take on Marietta in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Sprtan Baseball Complex and Historic Lattanzi Field. Game times are 1pm and 3pm.
