The Spartans defeated Marietta 3-0 on Wednesday as four pitchers combined to throw a 4 hit shutout.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Spartans (Varsity) pitchers struck out 14, while Marietta pitchers sat down 12.

The Royal & Silver got things moving in the first inning when Sophomore Garrett DeHart singled. After stealing 3rd following an error on a sharp ground ball from Xavier Williams, DeHart scored on a passed ball by the Marietta catcher. Michael Braswell, who led the Spartans at the plate with 2 hits, was credited with the victory for Spartans. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out six and walking zero. Andrew Herrmann came in and pitched 3 scoreless innings, striking out 8. Michael Herrmann closed things out by inducing a groundout from William Underwood in the bottom of the 7th to finish off the game.
